Sean Over Time

Sean is a character I made a few years ago.  (Whoo!  Really doesn't feel that long.  But I guess it's been 4?  Sheesh!!  His prototype has been around for even longer.)  Well, Yesterday I decided to paint him a little.  On the left is what I painted March 27 2011.  It is compared to a paint I did of him last summer, 2010. Crazy, eh?  I suck at remembering what my own characters look like; but then again, these were always intended to be evolving characters, that evolve with my mood, age, likes, etc.  The ears and whatnot have nothing to do with it; always there/apart of the character.  He is also in two stages of life though, as well.  The left is becoming post-transformation while the right is pre-transformation, though probably not long before he does for the first time.  The story is more about a deepening of human desire and misery.  Afterwards, though, is naivety and a certain amount of death.

Anyway, here it is compared with a ref I made perhaps the summer even before that; this is still the design I want to adhere to (on top).  The rest is a littering of crappy drawings and panels I made that don't adhere so well.  But anyway.

Sean everybody!  The 16 year old nobody who falsely believes he has something to live for.  What a swell, pitiful guy!  I think I got to trim his chin down a little, though, I think I'm accidentally making him older.

Quick Painty Thing

You know, Iyuno : p  Like always started all serious, but then somehow I always screw it up and am never able to make it look professional good with the lines and all that junk.  So now it just looks amusing, irretrievably.

Whaat? Anime / Manga

Started working on this for no apparent reason, except maybe to avoid essays?  I just met this cosplayer online, I always had a softspot for them and their work.  This guy was particularly good, so I started a sketchy outline of one of his photos.  Then I couldn't stop.  Right now I'm caught in limbo with it, because it was originally just a sketch, but I don't know if I have the energy to 'finish' it.  Anyway, it was an odd kind of accomplishment, and my appetite was whetted for this kind of work. 8P''

oh no new stuff

I have been doing a lot this break, whether it's visible or not.  Here's some of the sketch-paints I did.  The first, of Cherry's redesign, not sure if it really fits but I think it looks neat.  It was also done in SAI.  Things are so much more fluid in there.

 

Second is my personal favorite, it has such a nice volatile look.  It's kind of breezy and nice to make such quick paints that do seem to look nice.  Undecided whether it's good art or just sketches, I feel like I'm cheating a bit.  I took a break from Child Salsa to work on these and other projects.  I'm beginning to decide that, my comic work just doesn't make any sense to anyone.  So I probably should stop showing it, atleast for awhile.  Always makes me feel bad when it doesn't illicit the feeling I wanted in people.  But, I am experimenting with another comic/project, so we'll see where that goes.  (Probably not like I'm expecting, again, so.. hah.)

Also had the joy of going through very old drawings ^^'  Got a scanner so I can finally utilize real world drawings ._.  That will be a Godsend!
